the recession hits home

well, i had my yearly appraisal today. "exceeded expectations" as usual. my supervisor gave me a wonderful review and really made me feel appreciated as part of this team...

but there will be no raises for anyone in the company this year due to the recession.

it's disappointing. i know how hard i worked this year. especially with the training of j. to replace e. and my supervisor seemed to recognize that hard work, too. but he said there was nothing he could do since this was a decision made at the top.

however, they did give me 16 extra hours of vacation time. which is great because i don't get paid holidays, so i often either have to take a paid vacation for a holiday everyone else gets paid for (or take an unpaid day).

also, my supervisor said that if i have another baby, i will most certainly be given maternity leave (unpaid, like before) and they will hold my job for me. that's a relief.
