applesauce with aurora

this afternoon elenora and i went to s.'s house to make applesauce with aurora from apples that the two of them picked at russell orchard earlier today. it was so much fun. the girls are so cooperative and pleasant and helpful. this age is amazing. both of the girls dipped apple slices in cinnamon for a snack while s. and i drank hot coffee (it was a chilly day). then the girls put the spices into the bowl of apples and stirred them up.

ella kept dipping her fingers in the sugar and spice mixture and licking them off.

sometimes the sugar didn't quite make it to the bowl.

but sometimes it did.

while the applesauce cooked and cooled in the saucepan, we took the girls to a park near s.'s house.

it was a lovely day.
