shining brightly

sunday morning i had this conversation with elenora:

me: did you have a dream last night?
ella: yeah.
me: what did you dream about?
ella: going to the moon.
me: what did you do there?
ella: look at the moon.
me: was anyone else there?
ella: mommy and daddy.
me: what did we do there?
ella: looking at the moon.
me: what did it look like?
ella: it was shining brightly in the sky.

as we walked to our car from church later that morning, j. said "ella, is it cloudy?" as a joke, because it was bright and sunny. and she said "no!" and i said "ella, is it rainy, in fact?" and she said "no!" and j. said "ella, is it snowy, in fact?" and she said "no!" and then she paused and said "is it night time, in fact?!"

we laughed pretty hard at that one. she gets the irony of things.

this afternoon i took elenora to the little park on the ocean. i feel like there's an hour glass running down on these last few moments of her being a baby. i want to pack in as much fun as possible before thursday, so that she will always remember these days with joy.

I felt the same way about my children turning two. sigh. You will always savor the memories made during her babyhood. She is so precious. Her little quotes and sense of humor make me smile.
